  1. Since a portfolio can have a variety of stocks that behave differently within the portfolio, it would help to more accurately track the performance of a portfolio if it was possible to set different stop loss criteria to individual stocks within the portfolio instead of the whole portfolio

Stop Criteria can be set on individual stocks of the portfolio by right-clicking the holding in the grid and choosing Edit Stop Criteria.

  2. The Genius allows to edit different stop prices for each stock, which is a very valuable feature. However, they return all to the default value after the Genius is turned off and on again.

In the latest version of VectorVest 7, the Genius will ask you if you want to keep your existing stop criteria when reactivating automation. Select “Keep Existing” to prevent your stop criteria from being overwritten by the defaults.

To manually enter a purchase price, type the actual Price into the Price/Share textbox instead of clicking Get Price on the Place Trade dialog.

This feature is available in VectorVest 7 by clicking Add Trade and choosing Sell Long as the Trade Type. The dialog will then allow you to choose the position to sell, as well as the Price/Share and Quantity.

  5. Make an option to delete or hide the model portfolios. It is very frustrating to have my portfolios get crowded out by something I do not use or need.

We have added a new checkbox at the top of the Portfolios to hide/show the VectorVest Model Portfolios in the new 1.4 release of VectorVest 7. If you don’t have it yet, you should be receiving the update in the next few days.

  6. On portfolios set up with a %Gain/Loss stop, I would like Portfolio Alerts to specify which part of the stop was met... the gain or the loss

You can accurately recreate your actual portfolio by entering the number of shares and the price you paid when adding the trades to the portfolio.

Just make sure the correct Commission fee is entered into the Portfolio’s settings to make each holding’s cost basis calculate correctly.

In the Add Trade dialog, you have the option of clicking Get Price to get the price of the stock at that point in time.

Or you can add your own price by typing a price into the texbox.

  10. Longer term traders need weekly stop modes for Backtesting and Portfolion Management as provided in VV6,not just daily stops.

  11. Bug, in Portfolios > Manage Portfolios> Edit Portfolios Automation> Long> Choose Stop Criteria> Prior Day's Stop Price. When you set this it seems to work, but when you go back to to check it , it returns to default. Other stop criteria does not work ether Trailing Average True Range Stop.

  12. It doesn't make sense to offer fine-tuning of Backtests using Timing Options (i.e. Confirmed Calls, Primary Wave, DEW) and then not be able to apply that fine-tuning to your Portfolio Automation. It defeats the purpose of adding it to your Backtest.

  13. I've noticed in one of my portfolios that trades are happening after hours even though I have it configured to "NOT" check afterhours. The stop criteria for this portfolio is based on %G/L.

All alerts sent through Portfolio Automation now contain the name of the portfolio as well as the holding that triggered the alert.

  16. Something is wrong with the software as only allows one entry of a past trade. If I try to enter a trade that occoured at several prices on the fill it will not comprehend more than one entry.

  17. Many times, when running a portfolio with stop losses, the same stock is repurchased the same day it was sold. An adjustable time delay, as in the simulator would be helpful.

This feature is available by using the Limit Duplicates setting in the Automation Settings.

  18. The value shown in the Table and on chart for portfolio performance do not match for EOD data. The figure in the Table on the left is correct but the figure on the chart is not displayed correctly. This is a bug.

This feature is included in VectorVest 7. Just right-click on a stock in Portfolios and one of the options in the list is “View Full Stock Analysis.”
