Make a change to %Gain/(loss) Stop criteria by allowing a stop loss in the loss criteria.
Right now if I enter 50/10 for gain/loss, I could potentially have a 60% drawdown. By allowing to distinguish between a loss from purchase price or a moving stop loss, I could navigate a severe stock correction.

In order to Cherry Pick, allow for the backtester to halt when portfolio loses a position.
To backtest the "Cherry Picking with CI Up and Comers" SOTW, the backtester would need to halt when the number of positions < the normal portfolio size. Cherry Picking is a GREAT method that VV does not currently support. VV would create a tremendous marketing win by publishing the incredible gains possible using the above-mentioned SOTW.

Add Timing Market column when printing backtests list
Since we can only print all of our backtests it would be nice to see what market timing was used for each test. Currently this market timing column does not show up when printing.

Auto tester should reflect the so common amount of target % gain + %trailing stop. For instance take profit at 20% but trailing stop at 10

Change backtest to make entries & exits easier
Rather than going through the current awkward system of buying and selling (or selling short & covering) and updating in a backtest, it would be much easier if we could just insert the dates into a grid that would generate the desired test. That would make testing my own timing system much faster and easier.

Add Unisearch to backtest stop criteria
Unisearch is a great tool that can be used to finds the best stocks to buy and sell. Unisearch, with a portfolio filter, is a great way to decide when to sell stocks held in your portfolio based on very powerful and complex stop criteria. Enabling Unisearch as a backtest stop criteria would allow users to test the benefit of various "sell criteria"$$$.

Include the GREENLIGHT BUYER Timing List in the Simulator for VVPrographics 6. All the other timing lists are included. Needed for testing/optimizing VV7 Backtests using the Simulator. Can't be too hard to implement.

I'm using rt kicker combo with no stops and close all positions when criteria is met and keep top 8 stocks as quickly as possible.
I'm using rt kicker combo with no stops and close all positions when criteria is met and keep top 8 stocks as quickly as possible. This is a phenomenal strategy but the only possible drawback (I don't know because I can't backtetst the theory) is that it rebalances the portfolio as it replaces stocks that are no longer in the top 8 with their replacements. If we had 2 sales, I would like to take that cash only and buy the 2 new indicated purchases. That way, I'm not reducing the winners and increasing the losers.

In addition to the magnitude of the max drawdown, the backtester should tell us the the location on the chart of the max drawdown.

Add logarithmic scaling capability to BackTester graph.
Backtests run over longer time periods, and graphed on the typical arithmetic scale, do not provide a satisfactorily visualization of the results. Significant moves in the early portion of the graph are "cramped" because the scale range must be increased to show later results.
Example: Start w/ $100,000. A simple increase of 25% per year over 10 yrs requires an arithmetic range from $100,000 to $1,000,000. A significant increase of 10% ($10,000), early on, is only 10,000/900,000 = 1.1% of the scale -- totally undistinguishable from a visual standpoint. On a log scale the same 10% move from $100,000 to…11 votes -
stop Criteria
I suggest to add a new stop to the backtester : a comination of X% gain and y% trailing loss stop( as opposed to regular loss) , to be triggered based on whichever incurs first.

equity draw down as a stop
To expand on the http://feedback.vectorvest.com/forums/35189-vectorvest-7/suggestions/2558843-the-ability-to-superimpose-a-graph-of-the-vvc-upo idea: give us the ability to use a user-defined parabolic stop on the equity curve in back-testing and portfolio as the basis for discontinuing a current strategy IN ADDITION TO existing stop criteria.

Add ARR/MDD column to the BackTester results
Adding a column to the BackTester showing the ratio of the Annual Rate of Return to the Max Draw Down allows an investor to compare different strategies relative upside and downside potentials with this one number.

Add Benchmark Performance (S&P500) column to the BackTester results
Performance of a given idea/strategy is more useful when compared to a benchmark so you can show that your approach will be more rewarding than simply indexing the S&P500.

Closing Positions When Entering UP and DOWN Conditions
In the backtester under "More Settings" is "Close any position when entering this situation". I would like to close only bullish or short postions (L & S get confused with contras), i.e. when entering an Up condition I want to close all bearish positions and when entering a Down condition I want to close all bullish conditions. I'm surprised that VV doesn't already allow this. Thanks, Wayne
